Use case 4a - Address change orchestration - Insurance

Streamline and accelerate coverage confirmation and premium calculations after postal address change

Overview

Policyholder postal address changes are inherently complex, causing multiple downstream events that impact insurance coverage and premiums. Manual processes spread across multiple systems can burden and slow down the customer service experience. Insurance carriers need a fast and highly integrated home change solution that streamlines policyholder premium updates and communications.

This use case accelerates insurance IT teams’ ability to deliver a home-policy change solution that can also be extended to other forms of insurance coverage, like auto, boat, and other property. Insurers will be able to validate policyholder addresses faster and reduce manual tasks associated with policy changes and risk calculations.

Ultimately, insurers will be able to deliver faster home postal address change policy updates, and new quote generation, as well as improve the customer service experience.

Use case description

The address change orchestration solution integrates and connects data from Salesforce for Insurance (SFI) to complete policy and quote impacts. Address change initiation can be executed within Financial Services Cloud (FSC) or other CRM systems. CoreLogic supports insurers’ core platform by retrieving and analyzing physical locations and other details associated with the postal addresses.

The solution also helps communicate important information, including policy and quote updates and address validation confirmations through Slack to customer service representatives and policyholders.

High-level architecture

The following diagram represents the portion of the overall solution that pertains to the Postal Address Change use case.

Note that custom code or Lightning Web Components must be added to the Salesforce organizations to call the appropriate Experience APIs to verify a postal address.

Technical considerations and constraints

The following lists the technical considerations and constraints for this solution design:

  • SFI is the system of record for Insurance, while FSC Wealth is the system of record for Wealth & Asset Management.
  • Only changes to a postal address of an existing customer follows the new address change process.
  • Only customer profile information will be synchronized with FSC Wealth.
  • An Integration Procedure must be created in SFI for the generation of a new property quote.
  • By default, the Customers Process API implementation has all target systems enabled to support all use cases provided by this accelerator; unneeded targets can be disabled by modifying the application properties, as appropriate.

Processing views

This section provides more detailed processing sequence diagrams for address verification and change execution.

Address verification

The address verification process provides a means for applications to ensure an address change is valid before attempting to process it. This helps prevent invalid addresses from being stored and replicated across multiple systems. The following sequence diagram shows Salesforce FSC as the starting point but it applies to Salesforce Insurance as well (with a different Experience API).

Address change execution

The process of handling a postal address change as part of a general customer profile or individual party update is performed by the Customers Process API. The sequence diagram below shows how an additional update notification for a postal address change is handled by the Customer Addresses Process API.

Customer profile synchronization

The following sequence diagram describes the process when a profile change has been initiated from Salesforce FSC for Banking; the process is similar if the change is initiated from Salesforce Insurance or another connected system.
